"Every moment of life is a challenge, every day it's something. With things the way they are, how can one not help his or her own karma and chances of success by being a vegetarian vegan every day and every night. Do you want to walk thru the path of muck? or walk thru life with better karma? (based on: if you believe in karma, I do, I see it every day)" -ARCHURE (back to a Vegetarian Health Food Diet since January 1993, and an even stricter Vegan diet since December 22, 1998, after being influenced and impressed by vegans over many years)See an excellent article on "Vegan" at Wikipedia; and even better MEDICAL EVIDENCE from a 20 year joint study of 880 million people by Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine "The CHINA STUDY" at Wikipedia QUOTE: “The findings from the China Study indicate that the lower the percentage of animal-based foods that are consumed, the greater the health benefits—even when that percentage declines from 10% to 0% of calories. So it’s not unreasonable to assume that the optimum percentage of animal-based products is zero...”
FULL Wikipedia QUOTE: "A 2002 Time/CNN poll, found that 4% of American adults consider themselves vegetarians, and 5% of self-described vegetarians consider themselves vegans.[3] This suggests that 0.2% of American adults are vegans. Also in 2002, the UK Food Standards Agency reported that 5% of respondents self-identified as vegetarian or vegan. Though 29% of that 5% said they avoided "all animal products" only 5% reported avoiding dairy.[4] Based on these figures, approximately 0.25% of the UK population follow a vegan diet. In 2005, The Times estimated there were 250,000 vegans in Britain, which suggests around 0.4% of the UK population is vegan."
HEALTH: Being a Vegan is very good for your health, but you do need to take Vitamin B-12 supplements (and it is also advised that one also gets a B Complex (all the B vitamins), Vitamin D, and some Vitamin E and Calcium supplements are good for everyone. Meats and Dairy products both cause a very strong Acidic Reaction within the body which is not good for you, it wears you out, makes you more susceptible to diseases, it can damage your glands, and causes weight gain (all of this, as per "The pH Miracle" by Young & Young (a top selling health book). A large percentage of people who are patients in hospitals are there (directly or indirectly) due to low pH (acidity in diet), which is caused by Meat, Dairy products, Alcohol, Soda, and a lack of Water between meals. Meat and Dairy products are also very high in deadly saturated fats, which cause heart disease. Both a high Fat diet and low pH problems are associated with a much higher risk of Cancer, and many other common, major, diseases. These are the medical facts, I kid you not. I have links on my other web pages to direct quotes (Mayo Clinic, American Cancer Society, and The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Being a Vegan is very healthy for you.
No one is perfect, some may have slight exceptions. but I do try my hardest. I do take Synthroid medication tablets which I must have, which probably contains a trace amount of dairy products to hold the pill together. Yes one can get tablets made with no dairy, but not from the companies which make Synthroid (synthetic Thyroid). As a Vegan, I own no animal products. I have shoes which appear leather like, but are not really leather. I read labels and avoid products with MSG (which comes from a meat source) and "Natural Flavors" which in some cases may contain animal products.
TEMPERAMENT, MORAL REASONS AND KARMA:"The inexorable working of destiny, imposed on man by the turning of the Zodiac, subjects all human beings to the pain of birth and death. Man's problem is that in his ignorance he believes himself to be just a body, one that will grow old, suffer and eventually die. His sense of injustice at the inevitability of this fate leads him to hurt himself and others, either through lust for more life or fear of approaching death. These crimes serve further to bind the soul to the body and so increase man's suffering" -The Hermetica: The Lost Wisdom of the Pharaohs translated by Freke & Gandy, written by the Egyptian sage Hermes 3000 BC, (writtings attributed to Thoth 6000 BC), pg 137 CHAPTER XVIII"The Hermetica"
SUGGESTED RULES
"Never yell at a vegan" (its very bad luck to yell at a vegan, one suffers the consequences, I learned this years ago before I became a vegan)
Consider yourself an animal too, and consider animals to all be God's creatures (except cockroaches)
Do unto others, as you would have them do to you
