This chart was scanned from Carl Sagan's "The Dragons of Eden: Speculations on the Evolution of Human Intelligence" pg 39. I have added color to the already existing dots, and have added the green line (general squew), and have enlarged some of the text; but the actual info remains unaltered.

        WHICH DENOTES GREATER INTELLIGENCE?

No matter how you view it, we are not the only intelligent animals.
The smartest creatures (all factors considered) are Elephants, followed by Blue Whales, Modern Man, and Dolphins.

Chart ABOVE has a general GREEN skew,
Chart BELOW has an exact proportion ratio.
While the lower chart with BLUE skew, is more exact in proportion, the Green skew on the top chart seems to represent a natural pattern in nature.

If Brain to Body Ratio is the prime factor in intelligence (and using the exact Blue skew), then a mole has humanity beat

If Brain Size is the prime factor, then Elephants and Whales have us beat


Having an Advantage over other animals does not mean that we are smarter, and it does not mean that we are not an animal ourselves. Certainly it does not mean that we are the only creatures with feelings, intellect, emotions, and the will to live. Eliminating or enslaving other creatures does not help our existence. In fact, the Mayo Clinic says that eating little or no meat decreases your chances of heart disease and many forms of cancer (both dairy products and meat products, are "Acidic pH Reactive" as per "The pH Miracle" by Young and Young. .
We are Scientifically a "Primate", along with Lesser Apes & Great Apes (many Scientists say that technically we are a "Great Ape", but this view is banished from text books due to Religious Persecution; with major religions preaching that God is in charge, and wants things to be like this....


 GOD: God made us just like him (thus we are nearly Gods ourselves), and God has provided all other creatures for us to eat or dispose, and has created all of nature for us to violate. This God, with a white beard who sits on a throne in the clouds, watches you be good in church, but does not follow as you dance in sin in Studio 54 in Las Vegas, nor does he observe you loosing your money in those "Flaming 7" slot machines. This God says that we are not animals, and that animals are to be eaten and/or enslaved. But who has God spoken to directly? Someone who ate some mushrooms? or some bread with mold? or someone suffering from schizophrenia? or someone trying to get society to behave? or was it really a man with a white beard who has the ability to fly without a jet or airplane? But perhaps someone lied along the way, or perhaps someone misunderstood, or perhaps God is too angry to talk with anyone anymore, because they have taken his good words and twisted them to their own conveniency. Maybe God made animals like God made us. Perhaps God loves animals just like he (she?) loves us.

I question our ethics. Still, no man is an island, and you cant fight city hall, if that is what everyone believes, then so be it, but you wont catch me eating animals, nor consuming or using animal products or byproducts (except for certain prescription pills with trace amounts of dairy), anymore, ever again. (I even have shoes that look like leather but are not). And hopefully God will reward me for being ethical and treating all of his creatures nicely (except cockroaches). Pardon me, I didn't mean to get carried away, back to the chart data.....

Orangutans are not listed on the chart, but they are quite intelligent. I would guess that they are probably more so than Gorillas, but I used to guess that Orangutans are our nearest relative, but recently read that Chimps are (then Gorillas next). We did not descend from them, but we both descended from a common, now extinct ancestor (as per the field of Anthropology)..

One way or the other, all of the most intelligent animals (as well as all other animals) have been abused by mankind. We have even abused ourselves (aggression & pollution), we have the brains, its high time we stopped the abuse.
Man is the most dangerous animal on the list, we pollute the sea, we pollute the land, we cover the earth, killing everything else.

Its time we learned to COEXIST in Harmony with the other animals (as well as our selves), and the best way to do that is to live on a vegetarian Vegan diet (including mandatory B Vitamin supplements), using Soy for protein (which we will have to do anyway, if the population continues to grow, as you can feed 17 times as many people per acreage with Soy protein than with a meat based diet). The sooner we plan ahead, the less chance of catastrophe for not having planned ahead. .
IN SHORT:
WE SEARCH FOR INTELLIGENT LIFE IN OUTER SPACE, WHEN WE HAVE INTELLIGENT LIFE RIGHT HERE ON EARTH, WHICH WE IGNORE AND ABUSE.
If what goes around, comes around; then we have quite a bit of bad karma stacked up, due to our abuse of animals. If it does not appear so, perhaps we have become accustomed to more Disease and increased Aggression (road rage, domestic disputes, arguments) both, results of eating animals (Doctors advise persons with temper problems to cut back on their red meats or all meats). I do not condemn you, my fellow man & woman, for society has raised you as such, as it did me, but after reading Einstein, Franklin (both vegetarians), and the Mayo Clinic web pages, I will remain a vegetarian and highly advise that you do the same.
